Earlier this year, the Santa Rosa County Tourism Development Office contacted Dawn and Brett with an invitation to share their story in the publication. After participating in an interview and a professional photo shoot, the couple recently received their copies of the finished booklet.

They had a home they loved, four children, and an established online wellness business. Opening a café in Florida wasn't necessarily part of the plan they had imagined for themselves.

But as Dawn recently shared, they felt God calling them in a completely unexpected direction.

They sold what they considered their forever dream home and moved to an area of Florida they had never even heard of before.

What followed was hardly an easy road.

The couple faced nearly a year of major setbacks and struggles before they could finally open their café. At the same time, they were raising their children and continuing to operate their wellness business.

There were challenges, uncertainties, and undoubtedly moments when the path ahead seemed anything but clear.

Yet they continued moving forward.

For Dawn, that experience has become a powerful testimony to what she calls "obedience in action."

When Dawn's Cafe opened in 2023, the mission was simple: create a welcoming place where people could enjoy delicious food, connect with others, and experience genuine kindness.

What began as a small café quickly became a favorite gathering place for locals and visitors alike. Guests came for the homemade comfort food, all-day breakfast, fresh-baked cookies, specialty coffee, and sweet treats.

By 2025, just two years after opening, Dawn's Cafe had outgrown its original space. The business expanded into a larger location within Palm Harbor Plaza, more than doubling its size.

The grandson of one of Dawn and Brett's dear friends, Cam, was also recognized in the booklet. Cam is a chef at Beach House Social, located at the Marriott.

Dawn was thrilled to see his accomplishments celebrated alongside other members of the local hospitality community.

It's another example of what makes the Navarre area so special: people genuinely celebrating one another's success.

When Dawn shared the exciting news on Facebook, her message wasn't centered on personal achievement or business recognition.

It was filled with gratitude.

Reflecting on everything they've experienced, Dawn wrote:

"The power of OBEDIENCE in ACTION!! It hasn't been easy but gosh has it been so worth it to serve and love on so many wonderful people each and every day!!"

She also expressed how special it has been to share the entire experience with her husband and best friend, Brett.

In true Dawn's Cafe fashion, she added that getting to do it all together was "just icing on the cookie."
